Lakewood Ranch. Expected before the end of 2026.

What is coming to Lakewood Ranch: the Premier Athletics and Aquatics Center

If you live in Lakewood Ranch, or you are thinking about moving here, you may have seen the new building on Rangeland Parkway. I have been following it. Here is what the county has said so far.

What is coming.

Manatee County is finishing a new Athletics and Aquatics Center at Premier Sports Campus North in Lakewood Ranch. Ground broke on January 30, 2025. The building is about 44,000 square feet. The county expects to open it before the end of 2026. No opening date has been set.

The two pools.

There are two pools. The main pool is Olympic size, 50 meters long, and built for competitive swim meets. The second pool is a 25-yard warm-up and therapy pool for swim lessons and water aerobics. Both pools are heated by a geothermal system, and both have lifts for swimmers who need help getting in and out.

The courts and the grounds.

There are 24 pickleball courts. Fourteen of them are covered, with lights and fans. A walking trail loops the grounds, and there is a community room that looks over the pool. A large video board will show scores at meets and host community events.

Where it is.

The address is 16350 Rangeland Parkway, off Rangeland Parkway east of I-75 and State Road 70. It sits on the same campus as the Lakewood Ranch Library. Premier Sports Campus North is 111 acres the county bought from Schroeder-Manatee Ranch. It is next to the original 127-acre Premier Sports Campus, established in 2011.

Who runs it, and who can use it.

The county owns it and will run it through its Sports and Leisure Services Department. It is a public county facility, and memberships and daily-use options will be offered. A membership here also works at the county's G.T. Bray and John H. Marble recreation centers.
